Cameras, Action…..at TLH Leisure Resort
Written by Vicky on 29th June 2010
We’ve thought about it before, but we finally took the plunge and have gone ahead with a TLH Leisure Resort TV advertising campaign for this summer. On a sunny (thanks goodness!) Tuesday last week, the cameras started rolling and although it was a very long day, it was both an exciting and rewarding one.
Our task was to film a 30 second commercial in a day, which equated to almost 12 hours work! Hard to believe, I know, but it is amazing how much is involved. I had worked on photo shoots and some of our early video filming before, but this was a real eye opener. Starting with how many crew turned up. I now know why those lists of credits go on and on at the end of films – what with the director, assistant director, creative director, sound engineer, lighting, gaffer (I’d always wondered what a gaffer does – they sort out all the electrics and lighting).
The brief to our advertising agency was to come up with an exciting advert to entice families to stay at TLH Leisure Resort for their holiday this summer. Not easy to do in 30 seconds when we have soooo much to offer here! Some things had to give and we finally decided that we should focus on our leisure and entertainment facilities, which the whole family can enjoy.
The actual filming followed a previously agreed storyboard, as closely as possible. This becomes the bible for the day as each shot is set up as planned. This in itself took some time to get right, with painstaking attention to detail. You can see for yourself what went on behind the scenes with our ‘fly on the wall’ video footage.
Finally, the director called, ‘it’s a wrap’ (yes they really do say that!) and by 7.30pm that evening it was all over. Now it was to the editing suite asap for some fine tuning. We’re really pleased with the end result and very soon you will be able to see a version on our website.
Those of you living in the ITV West and ITV Central television areas will get to see the advert for yourselves form 12th July – tell us what you think!
