Is it better to go self catering in Torquay?
Written by Lee on 6th May 2010With summer fast approaching it’s time to sort out the Summer break and again this year more people will choose to stay in the UK for their family holidays, but if you have never tried a self-catering break before, how do you know if it is for you?
Self-catering in Torquay definitely offers flexibility to families who want to come and go and the Carlton and Victoria apartments at TLH Leisure Resort are rated 4 star in the Enjoy England Holiday Village scheme. They cater from 2-7 people and offer fully equipped and modern kitchens, lounges and on-site facilities to help with this.
For the family on a budget you can get access of TLH’s great leisure and entertainment and have the extra space of a lounge and kitchen and separate bedrooms. Plus cooking for yourselves, you can eat and drink what you like, when you like!
Tips for self catering
- Go on-line and order your shopping for your break to be delivered to the Apartment on the day you arrive. This will save precious holiday time and money as you can plan your meals and budget so you do not overspend. If you let reception know, we can even unpack it for you if you have not arrived.
- Take packed lunches on day trips out as this will save money – we can provide these to take out for the day.
- Do not over pack – just because you are going self catering remember we still provide fully equipped kitchens, bed linen, towels and a lot of home comforts, even ipod docking stations! Check with the hotels in Torquay before you travel.
Is self-catering for me?
Of course there are some downsides to self-catering, it obviously will involve a bit of effort in cooking and washing up and some families prefer to have all this done for them. If so then stick to hotel bedrooms where all your meals are cooked and served to you by our team, this is still by far the favourite option by most of our guests…it’s your holiday, why not let us do the hard work?!
However you can still book in for breakfast and evening meal if you decide you fancy a night off and don’t forget the Aztec Bistro is open every night over the summer.
In conclusion, only you know what suits you and your family best, but what ever you decide TLH has the right package and accommodation to suit all budgets this summer.
