The South West has a wide variety of golf courses to play, with coast and countryside locations.
Stover Golf Club (all-inclusive choice)
Stover Golf Club was founded in 1931, although its origins can be traced back to 1894 when Major Harold St Maur created a course on his own estate, which was interwoven with the Stover pheasant shoot. The Club is situated very close to the A38 Plymouth Expressway and 3 miles from Newton Abbot which makes the course very.
The course is set in parkland with some of the prettiest golf holes in Devon. Extensive, mature woodlands and water, feature on a number of holes - the 5952 yards, par 69 provides an interesting and enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities. Stover Golf Club is one of the most popular courses in South Devon.
Dartmouth Golf & Country Club (all-inclusive choice)
A beautiful course of sweeping fairways and superb greens created from the dramatic contours of the surrounding landscape. Set amid 225 acres, this 7200 yard par 72 championship course has been voted within the top 80 golf courses in Great Britain & Ireland. Designed to challenge the most proficient golfer, although the strategic positioning of the tees guarantees that the course provides a good test for all abilities.
There are some steep walks between greens so use one of the 32 golf buggies available if you are not as fit as you used to be!
Downes Crediton Golf Club (all-inclusive choice)
Downes Crediton Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of Crediton, approximately 5 miles from the city of Exeter and was established over 30 years ago. The course is parkland, with the flat but fairly tight front nine including drives over the River Yeo. The undulating back nine is more forgiving of wild shots, although three ponds on the par 3’s can catch the golfer out. Come and play Devon's "hidden jewel."
Teign Valley Golf Club (all-inclusive choice)
A wonderfully varied course, set in the stunning surroundings of Dartmoor National Park. Challenging for the experienced, encouraging for the beginner and sure to lift the spirits of all. Try equalling the world record hole in one on the par 5 17th ! Quite a challenge!
Dainton Golf Club (all-inclusive choice)
Teeing off with two of the toughest opening holes in Devon, this 6,200 yard par 71 course has the challenge and variety to inspire golfers of every standard. The course features well protected quality greens, elevated tees, strategic water hazards and tree lined fairways. It makes full use of the rolling Devon countryside with some quite spectacular scenery and views for that 'away from it all' feeling. The island 7th green is not for the faint hearted. You'll be doing well with a par!
Torquay Golf Club
A parkland course, constructed over 80 years ago with views over Lyme Bay and Dartmoor at its highest points. An excellent test of golf - from the back tees it is 6183 yards long with a par of 69 and a standard scratch of 70.
Churston Golf Club
Laid on a long strip of typical downland turf that stretches towards the cliffs at Brixham, Churston is undulating in character with plenty of natural features. The par 3 first is a testing 241 yards and can really set the seal on your round before you have even started!
Warren Golf Club
Warren is situated in an internationally renowned wildlife conservation area near the seaside town of Dawlish. A challenging par 69 links course with fantastic sea and Exe estuary views. Plenty of gorse and heather add interest to this level and easy walking course.
Teignmouth Golf Club
A well established flat heathland course with probably the best views in the area from a golf course. A 360 degree panorama of Lyme Bay, Teign Valley and towards Dartmoor. Designed by the great Dr Alistair Mackenzie, who also designed Augusta, Teignmouth has some interesting features including several quarries to negotiate - the par 3, 11th is a particular challenge!
St Mellion Golf Club
Set in rolling countryside, just a stone's throw from Plymouth and about an hour,s drive from Torquay, St Mellion offers an exciting challenge to the lower/middle handicappers. Lots of beautiful holes where the tee shot is all important. The fairways are lined by either trees or steep banks with streams and water on several holes. The Nicklaus course is perfectly complemented by the scenic beauty of the Old Course at 700 yards shorter and ideal for all handicaps.
Woodbury Park
A beautiful golf club by the Formula One world motor racing champion Nigel Mansell. This is a magnificent golf course, having challenging holes of European specification. It is set in beautiful Devonshire countryside with magnificent views across the Exe valley. The course 18 hole championship, par 72, 6970 yards.
