The aim of the programme this year was to help young people who have expressed an interest in a career working in a kitchen to have opportunity of gaining the experience and to encourage this ambition within them. Unfortunately there has been a decline in young people wanting to follow a career in Chefing and we saw this as great opportunity to raise profiles for this career.
Last week was the culmination of this year’s ‘Get into Hospitality’ programme with the Prince’s Trust. Once again, we were delighted to be working with them and able to present the programme here at TLH this year.
The training allowed our bar staff to taste a good proportion of the wines on our new wine list. We were then able to discuss the properties of the wines, where they are from and why certain aspects make a difference to the taste. Continue reading →
Here at TLH we have recently completed another round of the Management and Development Programme. We have six courses that help our managers to become better at managing people and provide them with the skills to become good leaders.
In recent years the Alzheimer’s Society have been campaigning to raise awareness of Dementia and break down the pre-conceptions that society may have regarding the disease. There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK.
To give our staff a better understanding of people living with Dementia, we recently invited the OCP Training Company to come along and deliver pilot training sessions for our Managers, covering the topic of Dementia awareness.
Simply talking about dementia raises awareness amongst hotel staff so we were excited to see what the sessions would bring. Continue reading →
