The English Riviera welcomed bowlers from all parts of the UK and as far afield as Worcester, Wales and Jersey to participate in the friendly but competitive tournament held at Torquay’s three seafront host clubs. This year was the 26th Anniversary of the popular tournament which ran over an eight day period from Sunday 16 June to Saturday 23 June.
The three host clubs, Kings, Torquay and Victoria did a marvellous job of looking after the players and spectators, with plenty of refreshments available. All the clubs are within easy walking distance of each other so moving around from green to green was no problem.
There was some excellent bowling and very exciting matches taking place during the week and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the games. And as normal the finals were a wonderful display of the sport that is enjoyed by both young and old.
The 2019 champions were:
Open singles: Sam Tolchard
Mens pairs: Luke Lane & Ryan Whitlock
Triples: Jim Collins, Mel Grainger & Ryan Whitlock
Mixed pairs: Ricci & Paul Creed
