Grinagog Festival: A Weekend Of Mudless Mischief By The Sea!
From award-winning festival producers Continental Drifts, the musical heart and soul behind Glastonbury’s Shangri-la, Bestival’s Caravanserai, Boomtown’s Ballroom Stage and Wilderness’ Carousel, comes a brand new addition to the Spring Festival calendar. For the first time, a world-class music festival will descend on the beautiful seaside town of Torquay for a weekend of escapism and adventure to transform even the most jaded festival goer into a tropical, grinning party monster!
A myriad of musical genres will be represented across 15 stages, ranging from the beautiful historical 12th century Torre Abbey to bustling harbourside nightclubs and rock venues with over 200 live bands, solo artists, and DJs. All this alongside street performers, art installations, talks and workshops, award-winning food, outdoor pursuits and much more. With a “No Mud Guarantee,” palm trees aplenty and adventures big and small; get ready to escape the humdrum with Grinagog in Torquay against the backdrop of the stunning English Riviera. Gin Festival Torquay 2017
Described in Timeout as one of the “Top 10 things to do in 2016,” the UK’s biggest and oldest Gin Festival is coming to Torquay for their first ever event in Devon. They’ll be serving up over 100 different gins (including many new and exclusive gins) plus new brands, cocktails and masterclasses from industry experts!
On arrival you’ll be handed your very own Gin Festival Copa Balloon Glass and a brochure that tells you all about the gins at the festival. The bars operate on a token system and do not take cash so you’ll need tokens to get your drinks. Tokens are £5 each with one token paying for a single measure of gin, garnish and a Fever-Tree mixer. Throughout the event there’ll be live music and entertainment, talks from gin industry experts, delicious food and lots of chit chat with other gin lovers! This event is strictly over 18 and ID may be required. If you’re new to gin, don’t worry! Their friendly staff are full of recommendations to get you going.
The event takes place on Friday 14th April 2017 – 6.30pm – 11pm and Saturday 15th April 2017 12.30pm – 5pm and 6.30pm – 11pm. Tickets are on sale now from the Gin Festival website.
BMAD Festival 2017 (Bikers Make a Difference)
The BMAD Festival (which actually stands for Bikers Make a Difference) was started in 2002 by a group of bikers who decided to arrange a social event on the beach and raise money for local charities. During the May Bank Holiday weekend each year, Paignton Green is transformed into a thrilling mix of spectacles that will appeal to all ages, whether they have an interest in motorbikes or not. Since its creation, the festival has grown into a major event attracting locals, visitors and bikers from across the country. All in the name of charity, the festival features live music, stunts, a beer tent, more stalls than you can shake a Harley Davison at and the stars of the show: the motorbikes. Gates will open as usual at 6pm on Friday 28th April 2017. There will be thousands of bikes arriving along the sea front and plenty to see all weekend. Music will finish at 11pm. Saturday the 29th April sees the gates opening at 10am and the same on Sunday 30th April with a full programme of Bands every day. Lots of information is available on the BMAD Festival website.
Brixham Pirate Festival 2017
A swashbuckling mix of piratical fun and entertainment! The Brixham Pirate Festival is an annual gathering of the world’s most infamous pirates and lowly scallywags. Located in the historical port of Brixham, the festival has been going from strength to strength over the last eight years. The festival is a free event for all to attend and is a non profit making event funded by sponsors and donations through the public.They are extremely excited to announce that this years’ Brixham Pirate Festival will be hosting the historic Neo Victoria, Ferdinand Magellan’s ship! The Nao Victoria will be sailing into Brixham Harbour especially for the 2017 Brixham Pirate Festival, and will be available for viewing throughout the entire festival. This incredible vessel is not to be missed, step back in history by stepping on board one of the most important ships to have sailed the seas! Transatlantic Tall Ships Race 2017
To celebrate the start of the Transatlantic Tall Ships Regatta in April 2017, 6 to 8 vessels are expected to take part in a short round the cans race, supported by Tor Bay Harbour and the Royal Torbay Yacht Club. This is a truly unique opportunity to see these magnificent ships in action.
The events will start with the arrival of the fleet on 17th April and they will have a practice run around the cans followed by a prize giving. The second round of the race will take place on 19th April. After that, the fleet will disperse. The start of the Tall Ships Regatta can be watched in the afternoon.
