We love to celebrate our wedding couples here at TLH Leisure Resort. With so many different options for a wedding in Torquay, we asked Kayleigh and James a few questions to find out why they chose the TLH Toorak Hotel and how their day went. Here’s what they had to say:
Watch the Wedding Highlights
How did you both meet?
We both met at school and got together quite young. We’ve been together for 13 years already and getting married was always in our plans.
Why did you decide to get married in Torquay?
We’ve both lived in Torquay all of our lives and have a lot of family and friends locally. We love Torquay and there are so many beautiful places. We looked at lots of venues, including some outside of Torquay, but couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else.
How did you find out about weddings at TLH Leisure Resort?
Like most couples, we searched online and looked at all of the local venues and found the TLH weddings pages on their website. We’d also been to a birthday party at the TLH Toorak Hotel and remember it being really nice, so thought we would book a show around.
Why did you choose the TLH Toorak Hotel?
We loved the Spanish Barn and wanted to have our ceremony there. The TLH Toorak Hotel fit in perfectly, as having our whole day at the Spanish Barn would have been really expensive and over our budget. Being so close to each other was great, because our guests could just stroll through Torre Abbey gardens after the ceremony and end up at the hotel in a couple of minutes.
Did your day go as planned?
Our day went perfectly! The weather was brilliant despite it raining the day before, whilst we were setting up. The ceremony was a bit of a blur because of the emotion of the day but we couldn’t have been happier. The staff at TLH were outstanding, in particular, the wedding coordinator Lisa. Nothing was too much trouble, the room was decorated perfectly and the waiting and bar staff were very attentive.
What was the highlight of your day?
Obviously the ceremony and saying ‘I do’ was a highlight for us both. We had a few highlights throughout the day though. Although James and I didn’t get time to try them, our guests loved the Ice Cream bike from Amazing Days. We had some beautiful weather and the ice cream went down very well! We had a photo booth which was a lot of fun as well as a great DJ. One of our evening highlights was getting all of our guests into the TLH Toorak gardens to hold sparklers, whilst we walked through them in a guard of honour style. The pictures from this were amazing and it was a bit of fun for our guests too.
Did you whisk yourselves away to enjoy a honeymoon?
We didn’t go straight away but a few weeks after the wedding, we enjoyed a honeymoon in Mexico! It was the perfect way to celebrate the biggest day in our lives so far.
Do you have any advice for couples looking to book their wedding in Torquay?
We would definitely advise to get in there early with venues. The Spanish Barn and the TLH Toorak Hotel are both popular wedding venues and can book up a year or more in advance. Also, try and view the venues whilst they are preparing for a similar event. That way you’ll get a feeling of what it will be like on your day.
