Team TLH Complete Mental Health First Aid Course
This week, eight volunteers from various departments across TLH Leisure Resort completed a First Aid Course for Mental Health. Mental health has been an important issue for our teams, particularly recently due to the unprecedented times we’re living through. Reports of mental health issues are on the rise in the UK and none of us are immune to the effects of poor mental health. With this in mind, and after listening to feedback from our team, we decided that the two day First Aid for Mental Health course was something that would benefit the wellbeing of our teams. The course also delivers on one of the core TLH company values: keeping our teams safe.
The training involved exploring a range of mental health disorders from Stress, Anxiety, Bi-Polar and Schizophrenia. Participants learnt various techniques to use when someone is feeling the effects of these disorders. The knowledge gained over the two days was put to the test, as participants completed an exam after each day.
Feedback regarding the course has been fantastic and we are already planning a further training course, which will allow even more of our teams to have the opportunity to undertake the training.
The course was organised by HR Manager, Sophia Bickle, who commented:
“Our commitment to being safe includes ensuring the physical and emotional safety of our teams while they are at work. In England 1 in 4 people will experience poor mental health each year and we understand how challenging it can be for people when they are not feeling mentally at their best. That is why it is so important for us to be able to have Mental Health First Aiders across all parts of the business, who are able to support our teams when they need it the most.”
