Unless you have been living off the planet in recent months, you should be aware that two huge weddings will take place this year. Not just any weddings, but Royal ones! With both the sixth and nine in line to the throne getting married this year, they’re sure to be grand events but why shouldn’t your wedding be one too? Here at TLH we believe every wedding should be memorable and personal; in short, Your Day, Your Way.
Weddings don’t come cheap, but isn’t it every couple’s dream to have a fairytale day, complete with horse drawn carriage and champagne fountain? However, budgetary constraints are a real dilemma for most couples, so we’ve put together lots of ideas of how to spend your wedding-fund wisely!
Make a List of Your Priorities
Prioritise things that will really make your day special for you. If you have always dreamed of arriving at the church in a horse drawn carriage, you don’t have to forgo that; just make sure you save elsewhere.
Confirm Your Budget Early
The average price of a wedding dress is just under £1400 so it’s important to confirm your budget early on and get everyone concerned on board. Long gone are the days of the bride’s father footing the bill. Be clear about who is paying for what to avoid any awkward moments along the way. Shop around and don’t be afraid to haggle. It’s not in our British DNA, but it could save you hundreds.
Call in Some Favours!
You’ll generally find that your friends and family can’t wait to get involved. Find out what skills do they have amongst them, Perhaps they are budding photographers or crafty creators. Remember the current trend is very definitely for handmade, folksy and individual. You can save lots of money by outsourcing and friends would be honored to be asked.
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue
This traditional rhyme which details what a bride should wear at her wedding for good luck could be a money-saver too. Scour online auction sites and Facebook groups (Preloved wedding Teignbridge/Torquay for example) to find items for your wedding day. You can find everything from table centre pieces to dresses and there is almost a guarantee that they will have been used only once!
Look out for hotel ‘all-inclusive’ packages which make it easier to budget. You may then be able to splash out on that horse drawn carriage. With 8 sophisticated and modern wedding venues to choose from, there’s nowhere better to plan your wedding in Torquay. Whether you’re looking for the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding or a large function room for a big reception party the extended family can enjoy, our bespoke packages put your wish list at the heart of our wedding planning services.
With the benefit of our free Wedding Planner and weddings in August 2018 for just £2600, why not speak to our Joss Smith, our Events Co-ordinator, and she will be happy to discuss your own particular event or occasion.
