The new “Strictly” season is back on the BBC, but it’s Strictly Come Dancing every day of the year for Lynette Boyce and her family, for whom dancing well and truly runs in the blood. For over 40 years members of the Boyce family have been wowing audiences and judges with their ballroom dancing prowess. Between them they have won numerous championship awards.
Lynette Boyce has an impressive competition background which includes having won many amateur and professional titles. These include former British and World Amateur Champion and former English Professional Champion. She and her late husband, Glenn Boyce were World Ballroom Champions in 1975 and the very first winners of the British National Amateur Ballroom Championship.
No longer dancing in competitions herself, Lynette is the principal of Nice ‘n’ Easy Dance Studios in Bournemouth and is highly respected in the world of dance. She now devotes her time to coaching and is a qualified member of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. She has coached many Amateur UK Finalists and Champions and Amateur World Champions.
Lynette is also a familiar face at TLH Leisure Resort in Torquay, regularly hosting Ballroom & Latin dance holidays for dancers wanting to improve their skills on the floor.
Warren & Kristi Boyce
Following in his parents footsteps, Warren Boyce has been dancing with his partner, and wife, Kristi since 2000. Warren & Kristi represent England, regularly competing all over the world as one of the most in-demand world class couples.
In both 2011 & 2010 Warren and Kristi finished fourth in the WDC World Professional Ballroom Ranking. Following this, in 2011 they made every single dance in the British Open Professional Ballroom Championships in Blackpool and finished overall 6th in 2012. Their most recent success was winning the fourth successive year at the United Kingdom Closed Championships. Warren & Kristi hold the record for the most Professional & Amateur Ballroom wins at this event and the most UK Closed Championship titles of all time have been won by Warren Boyce .
Also based at Nice ‘n’ Easy Dance Studios, Warren & Kristi help aspiring dancers to achieve their own “Strictly Come Dancing” dreams. They offer private tuition, group classes and are organisers of the Annual International Training Camp in Estonia.
When challenging him to improve, Warren’s past coaches have been known to tell him, “You’re not as good as your Dad.” Now they are just as likely to taunt him with “You’re not as good as your son.” This latter statement refers to Warren and Kristi’s son, Glenn-Richard Boyce, who has to date won 23 World Championships.
Now 15 years old, Glenn-Richard Boyce has achieved numerous titles and is currently reigning British Open Blackpool Dance Festival Champion with his partner, Caroly Janes. Glenn and Caroly began dancing together on 31 January 2016. Both had previously been very successful dancers and National Champions with Glenn winning no less than 23 World Championship titles in Latin-American, Ballroom and Ten dance.
After dancing together for only 8 weeks they had their first major success winning the European Junior Championships in March 2016. The biggest test came immediately after and they took up the challenge to win the British Open Blackpool Dance Festival Junior Championship.
Glenn & Caroly have since won over 30 events dancing in Junior and Youth categories. The couple have a fascinating history having both learnt and trained in the same dance camps alongside one another since they were five years old and still continue year on year to attend Team Leevi’s world famous training camps.
You can see them in action at a competition earlier this year, dancing the Cha Cha.
