The Strictly Come Dancing season drew to a close last Saturday with Jay McGuinness and his professional partner Aliona Vilani winning the coveted glitterball trophy. In spite of all the controversy in the media, it seems to me that any one of the three couples remaining after the first vote-off on the finals night would have been worthy winners.
Georgia May Foote, Kellie Bright and Jay McGuinness are all to be commended for the long hours of practice they put in and for the passion and determination that shone through their performances, making Strictly Come Dancing excellent Saturday night entertainment on our screens for the past 3 months or so.
Closer to home, last week we saw our own staging of “Strictly Come Dancing” when a group staying with us had a busy day crafting their own fantastic “Strictly” scene. The group from Warwickshire have been coming to stay at TLH for the past 17 years as part of our Santa’s Dance house party, hosted by Kevin of KB Sounds and traditionally held each year at the TLH Victoria Hotel in Torquay. To Janet and the team – we give your inspired efforts a 10!
Santa’s Dance is just one of the many breaks in our year-round dance calendar of dance events, aimed at all levels of expertise and dance styles. But don’t worry if you aren’t an experienced dancer, there are breaks for beginners too. So why not make a New Year’s Resolution and take up a new hobby for 2016. Dancing is so much fun and helps you to keep fit too. Our Strictly Beginners Break Stage 1 which takes place in February 2016, is hosted by professional dance teacher Philip Hurst and is ideal if you are taking your first steps on the dance floor.
So there’s no excuse for you to be a wallflower any more – come and join in the fun here in Torquay at TLH Leisure Resort.
