TLH Dance Host To Star In BBC TV Programme

Dancing FeetWith the thrill of the BBC dance season well and truly upon us, we are particularly excited that one of our own dance hosts here at TLH Leisure Resort, Philip Hurst, will be appearing in a new BBC2 programme due to be screened early in 2016.

Full details are still to be confirmed but the new programme, with the working title of “Dance Hall Days”, will feature renowned choreographer Jack Murphy. Throughout his 30 year career in film and theatre, Jack has specialized in historical dance. Additional claims to fame include teaching Daniel Craig to jive and Emily Blunt to waltz. The new programme, to be co-hosted by our own Philip Hurst, will turn its attention to the people of Bolton in an attempt to revive the Dance Hall glory days when people up and down the country attended traditional dance halls, dancing arm in arm. We’ll let you know more details when they become available.

In the meantime, the new line-up of Strictly Come Dancing celebrities wowed us this weekend with their first routines. Whilst one or two still need to polish their technique, there are already some strong looking contenders to progress further in the competition this year. Not least Anton Du Beke and his partner, Katie Derham who most certainly held their own against the current favourites Peter Andre and his partner Janette Manrara. Hurrah for Anton being partnered with someone who has a real sense of rhythm and can move around the dance floor with style.

Like many, I am sure, I shall be glued to the screen on Saturday nights leading up to Christmas, cheering on my favourite dancers. And if you are now inspired to take your first steps on the dance floor, why not take a look at our “Strictly Beginners Breaks” taking place at the TLH Victoria Hotel in Torquay? Hosted by Philip Hurst, you’ll have a really enjoyable time being taught the basics of Ballroom & Latin with him.

What do you get when you have a Brummie, married to a Liverpudlian living in Devon. A pretty strange accent for one! When I'm not working in the marketing department at TLH, I spend my time pottering around my garden on the edge of Dartmoor, and cooking up curries for my husband who is an addict.
