The 12 days of Christmas Markets in Torquay and Devon

There is nothing more likely to ignite the festive spirit than attending a Christmas Market. The atmosphere, the smell of hot food and drink and the wonderful gifts really get the festive period underway. Torquay and the surrounding areas host a wonderful array of markets, each with their own unique feel.

1. Winterfest at Torre Abbey

Following the huge success of previous Winter Fests, they will be again hosting this craft and gift fair in the historic setting of the Abbey from Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 November 2021. Torre Abbey will be filled with stalls selling truly unique crafts and Christmas gifts. You can expect seasonal music, a Christmas trail and some indulgent nibbles and beverages. This promises to be a charming event in the heart of Torquay and the perfect opportunity to dig out those Christmas jumpers and get into the Winter Fest spirit. £2 Entry price includes entry to the Abbey.

2. Newton Abbot Christmas Fayre

Save the date for the return of the much-loved Newton Abbot Christmas Fayre on Saturday 4 December 2021. Join in with a fun-filled festive family day out to pick up some beautiful presents and put yourselves firmly in the Christmas mood. They will be joined by an incredible selection of local companies showcasing their amazing Christmas products, plus we’ll have yummy Christmas treats to enjoy and the return of the brilliant Reinpony rides – a must for little visitors this year! Tickets will be priced at just £3 plus children go FREE!

3. Exeter Winter Wonderland

Set in the heart of the city centre, the new for 2021 Exeter Winter Wonderland is billed as a magical day out for the whole family to enjoy. It runs from 17 November 2021 to 2 January 2022 and there will be an ice rink and Santa’s grotto as well as rides and locally-sourced festive refreshments. The Winter Wonderland is free entry, with tickets available to purchase for the ice rink and Santa’s Grotto.

4. Christmas at Lupton House

Come and join in at Lupton House for 2 days of craft stalls and family fun at Lupton House on Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 November 2021.

5. Exeter Christmas Markets

Exeter’s Christmas Markets will run from Thursday18th November until Saturday18th December 2021.

The market support local businesses and performers, with an exciting mix of continental and local, independent traders, showcasing the best of festive food, crafts and gifts. The west front bandstand showcases local bands, carol singers and choirs able to bid for free slots to entertain traders and customers.

This year promises to be better than ever with great entertainment on stage, more stalls for local businesses and another drinks outlet where visitors can buy mulled wine, cider and gin.

As usual there will be a mix of local traders plus continental ones, all who will showcase the best of festive food, crafts and gifts. New for this year will be a bandstand with performances from local bands, carol singers and choirs.  You can visit other street markets whilst in Exeter which will be held in Castle Street and Fore Street.

6. Christmas Shopping Fayre at Westpoint

In its 25th year, Westpoint, Exeter will host its annual Christmas Shopping Fayre from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th November 2021.  Each year there is an incredibly diverse range of exhibitors from far and wide who transform Westpoint into an Aladdin’s cave of wonderful gift ideas and essential Christmas items.

It’s a magical few days and we know you will all enjoy the show as much as their many thousands of regular visitors. In their 23rdyear, they’re going to make it memorable with many, many new exhibitors with 100’s of brand new lines, more entertainment to enjoy and look out for the celebrity appearances. Prices are Adults £4; OAP £3; 16 under free. There is also lots of free parking!

7. Brixham Christmas Market

Brixham’s Christmas Market will be incorporated with their ‘Latern, Lights ‘luminations’ event on Saturday 27 November 2021.  FREE Lantern Making workshop in the Scala Hall, Brixham Town Hall from 10am to 1pm. Come along and make your lantern and join in the lantern parade in the evening. Stock of battery operated Tea lights available for £1. Brixham Theatre will be hosting a Festive Café in the Function Room, Town Hall between 10am and 1pm. Christmas stalls, Hot & Cold Food, Live Music and Entertainment from 1pm on the Quay. Grand Fireworks display at 6pm. Christmas Lights Switch On at 6pm. Live Music after the fireworks until 7pm.

It includes magical events, shopping and Christmas festive fun. There will be hot food stalls and street markets in varied venues across the town. Full details of the event can be found at their website.

8. Kingsbridge Christmas Market

Kingsbridge will celebrate Christmas once again on Saturday 4th December 2021 so get in the festive spirit and eat, drink, and be merry in Kingsbridge this Christmas… Starting on the Quay, the Farmers Market will kick off the festivities with their fruit & vegetables grown locally, a glistening array of fresh fish, the smell of freshly baked bread still warm from the oven, and meat served by the farmers who tended the livestock. Luscious homemade cakes, a wide range of homemade preserves, cheeses, locally grown flowers, plants, and herbs. Pies, pasties and honey, plus free range eggs, local ale and more. An interesting selection of local craft stalls perfect for gifts and, especially for Christmas, some live music and entertainment.

Kingbridge Christmas Markets

Local shops will join in with their brightly lit windows and costumed staff, many offering one-off promotions. Stalls will be laden with a wide variety of wonderful gifts and festive treats providing an even bigger and better opportunity to browse and complete your Christmas shopping. All the while street entertainers, local bands and carol singers add to the magical atmosphere throughout the day and a welcome rest will be found in one of the wide range of cafes and restaurants in town. 9. Powderham Michaelmas Fair

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity’s annual Michaelmas Fair is back for its 20th year and will be held on 4th November 2021 from 10am-3pm. A chance to do some early Christmas shopping with many unusual stalls and gifts not found on the High Street.

10. Connaught Gardens Christmas Event, Sidmouth

Between Tuesday, December 7 and Sunday 12, Connaught Gardens will be lit up every evening with coloured lights and seasonal decorations, and visitors will be able to browse around stalls selling food, drink and locally made gifts, to the accompaniment of live music from the bandstand. Tickets are on sale now for Connaught@Christmas, priced at £8 per adult, £5 for children aged three to 14, and free for under threes. There will also be a Christmas Food and Craft Village in the Manor Road car park opposite Connaught Gardens, free to attend.

11. Plymouth Christmas Markets

Pick up some individual and unique Christmas gifts at Plymouth Christmas Market, located in the heart of the city centre from 2 to 19 December 2021.

Head to the Piazza in the city centre and browse to your heart’s content! More than 40 traders from across the South West will be selling their wares in traditional wooden cabins, festooned with fairy lights.

Pick up unique gifts for friends and family, with everything from handmade jewellery and artwork to sweet treats and liqueurs to choose from. Warm up with a mulled wine from the Bavarian Bar, tuck into festive food from one of the many street food stands and snap a festival selfie in front of the giant illuminated bauble.

With festive entertainment on Thursday evenings, Saturday and Sunday, your visit to the Christmas market will certainly put you in the Christmas spirit!

12. Christmas Fair at Poltimore House, Exeter

With many stalls in both the house and chapel this is one of our most popular events. Products range from high quality gifts to pocket money items. There will be lots of seasonal decorations on offer as well.
