5 Ways to Budget for your Wedding

15 March 2023

There are many simple ways to save money when it comes to your wedding. From calling in favours to shopping for pre-loved outfits, we’ve put together 5 great ways to help you celebrate your wedding day without getting into debt. These tips can save you your hard-earned cash without sacrificing style!

Know your Budget and Prioritise

Make a list of everything you would want if money was no object. Stick to things that you want rather than things that convention dictates. Then put these things in priority order. Using your budget, work out how much you can afford to spend in different areas and prioritise what is important to YOU.

Phone a Friend!

Our social circles are full of home-bakers, photographers, DJs and even magicians! You may have a relative with posh car who would love to show it off and chauffeur you to your wedding. Or maybe a friend who can do your hair and make-up. Ask for their help in lieu of a wedding present and it will cut the cost for both you and them! It also brings a more personal touch to the celebration. Perhaps you have friends who have recently got married and could lend you ‘something borrowed’ such as shoes and bags or even suits!

Save on your Dress

We are now fully invested in a greener, more sustainable style of living so it makes sense to continue that ethos into weddings. Second-hand dress sites are popping up online all the time such as SellMyWeddingDress, preloved.co.uk, Gumtree and of course, eBay. There are also multiple groups on Facebook who’s soul purpose is selling bridal items and dresses. There is a massive choice of pre-loved dresses, shoes, suites and bridalwear.

You can also help charitable causes by visiting online charity shops that specialise in wedding items. These include Oxfam and Tenovus Cancer Care.

Have your Ceremony and Reception at the Same Venue

More and more wedding venues are now licensed to carry out civil ceremonies, and not only does it eliminate any travel time between two different venues, but it can also help to reduce the cost of wedding cars and transportation for your guests. This is where TLH really comes into its own. With a large number of rooms across the resort, you really can have everything all in one place. And with discount accommodation for your guests, you can really make an occasion of it! FIND OUT MORE
