1. Torre Abbey Historic House and Gardens

Torre Abbey is within just a 5 minute walking distance of TLH Leisure Resort. The Abbey is a historic building and art gallery in Torquay.

It was founded in 1196 a monastery for Premonstratensian canons, and is now the best-preserved medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. Today, as a museum, you will find beautifully presented heritage rooms, galleries, art exhibitions, interactive displays, talking portraits and videos which bring the colourful history and art to life.

Torre Abbey is also widely known for the formal gardens. With a wealth of exotic plants, the gardens are the perfect setting in which to relax, stroll or picnic.

2. Round Robin

The award-winning Round Robin trip is one of the best day excursions in South Devon! You will visit the quaint towns of Paignton, Dartmouth and Totnes travelling on a steam train, a river boat and a bus.

Located in St. Marychurch and spread over 3 floors, Bygones offers pure nostalgia for all ages. You can visit an authentic, life-size Victorian street including a forge, sweet shop & apothecary plus a nursery, kitchen, parlour or the dentist! There is also 28ft model railway and magical fantasyland. You can visit the 1940s and 1950s shopping arcade and go even further back to a World War I trench. Weather isn’t an issue as the whole exhibit is located indoors.

Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller was born on 15 September 1890 in Torquay, Devon. She is known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those revolving around her fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. In the English Riviera, you can retrace the steps of the world’s best-selling author along Torquay’s seafront beginning just a few minutes walk from TLH Leisure Resort. The Agatha Christie Mile takes you to some of the places that were inspirational in her life and works and includes seven unique plaques to find along way.

9. Princess Theatre

The Princess Theatre in Torquay, England is a 1,500 seat theatre that first opened its doors on Wednesday 7 June 1961. The Theatre is owned and operated by Torbay Council, it’s the oldest working Theatre in Torbay and has recently undergone major refurbishment.

Over the years the Princess Theatre has seen a wide variety of entertainment including comedians, musicals and West End shows and of course the pantomime for all the family.

Located right outside Torquay Pier, this Theatre makes a great place to see a show or watch a fantastic performance.

10. Cockington

No visit to Torquay is complete without a visit to the thatched village of Cockington. Whatever time of year, it is the perfect setting for a walk.
