There are always things to do for families in Torbay  whether it be local attractions or great outdoor events. We’ve listed our favourite 5 activities this summer in Torquay and the surrounding areas which are great for families visiting the area and local families alike.

Paignton Festival 2018

This event (previously known as Torbay Carnival Week) has been running for over 100 years and was originally held on one night as a procession night. Over the years, however, it has grown to run over nine days. Free entertainment is available for all the family with the aim to raise money for local charities and organisations. The week runs from 21 – 29 July 2018. Full details of the whole event is available on the Paignton Festival website.

Take a Trip by Boat, Train and Bus on the Round Robin

There is no better way to explore our wonderful part of the world than on the steam train, river boat and bus which visits the quaint towns of Paignton, Dartmouth and Totnes.

Round Robin

The journey on the steam train is approximately 30 minutes then jump on the river boat for just over 90 minutes. During the trip on the water, listen to the commentary with interesting facts about the wonderful coastal areas as well as lots of local history. Finish off the day with a bus trip for around half an hour. Sit back and enjoy the scenery with their award-winning ticket which is a favourite with both young and old. The Round Robin runs until 28th October in 2018. Visit their website and use the itinerary planner to organise your trip. You can choose your departure point and check sailing times. The route can be taken the other way round if you prefer to end your adventure on the steam train. Prices are Adult £27.50, Child (3-15) £17.00, Concession (aged 60+) £26.50 and a family ticket (2 Adults & max 3 children) £74.00.

Children’s Week 2018 in Paignton

Welcome to a free week of fun for all kids both young & old from 14 August 2018. Children’s Week really is part of Paignton’s History. Funded entirely by local businesses, local residents and visitors alike always enjoy this week of free entertainment on Paignton seafront. Keep up-to-date at their website.

Dubs at the Beach

Dubs at the Beach 2018 is a one day Volkswagen Show that takes place on Sunday 29th July 2018. Volkwagen enthusiasts are invited to gather along a designated area of Paignton sea front and on the green (weather permitting) to showcase their vehicles and to enjoy the wonderful selection of VWs on display. DATB is a great way for all the family to spend the day relaxing in the beautiful seaside town of Paignton whilst being surrounded by a fantastic variety of VW’s.

There will be Live Bands playing throughout the afternoon. Traders, Autojumble, Club Displays and of course, Show ‘n Shine. A licensed bar & refreshments will be available as well as children’s activities to keep the little ones entertained. More detailed information can be found at their website.

If the weather isn’t on your side, try Aztec Games for lots of wet weather ideas. Bowling, soft play or archery can be found in there plus pool & snooker tables and ping pong. And you can take a dip in our indoor pool area with two fantastic pools. Our warm and inviting fun pool area is perfect for water babies of all ages and the stunning Aztec 25 metre indoor swimming pool is ideal for more serious swimmers.
